Final hearing in Uma's national flag issue on Oct 5

Bhopal, Sep 13 (UNI) A court here today fixed October 5 as the date for final hearing in a case related to alleged insult of national flag by former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharti.

Hearing a revision petition in this regard, District and Sessions Judge Sharad Srivastava fixed the next date of hearing on October 5 after Ms Bharti's counsel Harish Mehta sought more time to present argument.

The revision petition under section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, was filed by state Congress incharge general secretary Deepchandra Yadav.

Earlier, Chief Judicial Magistrate Anil Kumar had quashed Mr Yadav's petition on February 20, 2006.

Mr Yadav had raised the matter alleging insult of national flag by Ms Bharti after a newsmagazine carried her photograph with the tricolour on its main page.

Indo-Myanmar talks begin; to focus on insurgency, border managemen

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) The 12th meeting of the Home Secretaries of India and Myanmar began here today with focus on Indian insurgent groups present in Myanmar and effective border management between the two countries. Power tariff revised in Chhattisgarh

Raipur, Sep 13 (UNI) Power tariff has been rationalised in Chhattisgarh keeping intact the rates for BPL and agriculture consumers and giving relief to high tension customers like railway, coal mines, steel and cement plants, while raising the rates by 3.45 per cent for domestic customers. The new rates, approved by the Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission, will come into effect from next month, Commission Chairman S K Mishra said today. He told reporters.....
