Farmers launch 'halla bol' agitation

Mahoba, Sep 13 (UNI) Tension mounted here today after farmers' launched 'halla bol' agitation' demanding the government to declare the district as drought-hit area.

On the call of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, thousands of farmers of the district squatted on the Kanpur-Sagar highway following which there was a massive traffic snarl for some hours.

The farmers were demanding compensation for the drought-like situation in the district.

FCI received 11 vessels with 5.62 lakh MT of wheat till Sep 12

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Four vessels carrying a total quantity of 1,55,467 MT of wheat, are currently waiting for discharge at Chennai, Cochin and Vizag ports, out of which 78,380 MT of wheat has been discharged till yesterday. Six vessels with 3,25,701 MT of wheat have arrived, and are under fumigation/quality-check/berthing. Of the nine vessels that have sailed to Indian ports with 4,84,483 MT of wheat, eight vessels are scheduled to arrive.....

Lalu claims support of 43 MLAs

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Claiming support of 43 MLAs in the 82-member Jharkhand Assembly, RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad today said the Arjun Munda Government should be dismissed and the UPA be asked to form a government in the state.
