ERNI kicks off expansion plans in India

New Delhi, Sept 13: In a move to enhance its market penetration in the country, ERNI, manufacturer of a broadline of interconnects, today said it plans to open its office in India.

Also, it announced the appointment of Bangalore-based SM Electronic Technologies (SM) as a distributor for its products in India, to join the existing distributor, Omnidesner.

Leveraging the addition of a distribution partner, ERNI now expects a growth of 20 per cent in its revenue from its operations in India.

''With the additional support of distribution network, we want to position ourselves as one of the key technology players in the connector industry in India by providing better connectivity support to OEMs and design houses,'' said ERNI Asia Sales Manager for South East Asia and India A C Khor.

Addition of a distributor with strong market base will help ERNI in reaching out to its goals and will give it a wider reach, added Mr Khor.

''ERNI, one of the leader in interconnects, has an ideal product line to add to our portfolio of leading telecom, and electronic brands,'' said SM Managing Director M S Manjunath.

ERNI is a leading global manufacturer and worldwide supplier of a broad line of interconnects for the telecommunications, data communications, computer, industrial and medical markets.

It has manufacturing operations in Europe as well as sales offices in over 40 countries. ERNI products are also marketed via a worldwide network of representatives and leading distributors.

PM's remark on NAM irks left

Ceasefire likely in J

New Delhi, Sept 13: The Centre is likely to announce a ceasefire for the holy month of Ramadan in Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at restoring lasting peace in the strife-torn state. Sources told that if the militant organisations respond favourably the truce could also be extended.''Ramadan will begin in the last week of September and negotiations are on with the militants.
