Education officer lands in jail

Patna, Sep 13 (UNI) The Special vigilance Court here today remanded Jagdishpur block education extention officer of Bhojpur district Ravindra Nath Chaubey in judicial custody till september 26 next in a bribery case.

The accused was produced before the special judge Ramniwash Prasad by the officials of state vigilance investigation bureau after his arrest under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the charges Mr Chaubey was arrested by vigilance sleuths yesterday from his office while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.7,000 from the head master of a primary school.

7-year-old girl raped, murdered

Patan, Gujarat, Sep 13 (UNI) A seven-year-old shepherd girl was found raped and murdered in Gaggalasan village in Siddhpur taluka yesterday, about 30 km from here. The girl's uncle Jaswantji Diwaji who filed a complaint late last evening, said the girl had left home to graze cattle yesterday morning. Maharashtra to get Rs 10,000 cr PFC assistance: Shinde
