Education officer lands in jail

Patna, Sep 13 (UNI) The Special vigilance Court here today remanded Jagdishpur block education extention officer of Bhojpur district Ravindra Nath Chaubey in judicial custody till september 26 next in a bribery case.

The accused was produced before the special judge Ramniwash Prasad by the officials of state vigilance investigation bureau after his arrest under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the charges Mr Chaubey was arrested by vigilance sleuths yesterday from his office while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs.7,000 from the head master of a primary school.

Maharashtra to get Rs 10,000 cr PFC assistance: Shinde

Mumbai, Sep 13 (UNI) Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today assured the Maharashtra Government would be provided an assistance of Rs 10,000 crore by the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) for upgradation of the State's power infrastructure. Turkish police raid houses as bomb toll rises

DIYARBAKIR, Turkey, Sep 13 (Reuters) Police raided houses today in a major security crackdown in Diyarbakir, the largest city in Turkey's mainly Kurdish southeast, after a bomb blast killed 10 people, five of them children.
