Coastguard rescues 12 fishermen stranded off Morjim beach

Panaji, Sep 13 (UNI) The Coastguard rescued twelve fishermen who were stranded on a rocky terrain in two boats off the Morjim beach in north Goa today.

The fishermen were later handed over to the fisheries association safely, according to the coastguard officials.

On an alert, a patrolling vessel and a helicopter rushed to the spot. The helicopter had lowered an expert diver on one of the stranded boats and guided them to safety.

One killed, eight injured in shoot-out

Aurangabad, Sep13 (UNI) One person was killed and eight were injured in a shoot-out between rival groups at Barauli Tole village under Jamhor police station in the district today. Police Superintendent Sushil S Khopre said here that one person was killed in an exchange of fire between the rival groups over a trivial issue. The injured were hospitalised.
