CEO visits Purulia to oversee poll arrangements

Purulia, Sep 13 (UNI) Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal Debasish Sen today arrived here to oversee the arrangements for the September 16 byelection to Purulia Lok Sabha seat.

Mr Sen met the polling officials and discussed about polling arrangements.

Talking to newsmen here, Mr Sen said 25 companies of Central para-military forces and 5000 state police would be deployed on the election day.

He informed that a helicopter will be kept in Purulia for polling purpose.

Altogether seven candidates, including Left-supported Forward Bloc nominee Narahari Mahato, are in the fray.

HC adjourns Jaya's petitions to Oct 10

Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) Madras High Court today adjourned to October 10 hearing on two petitions filed by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in connection with income tax cases. Ms Jayalalithaa filed two petitions, one challenging an order of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (Economic Offences-II), dismissing her petitions, seeking to discharge her from the three income tax cases, and the other challenging the constitutional validity of Section 278-E of the Income.....

AAPSU serves ultimatum to Arunachal CM

Close circuit cameras at bus stands in NCR

Chandigarh, Sep 13 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to set up close circuit cameras at all bus stands of the districts falling in the National Capital Region for close monitoring and strict vigil on anti-social elements. Chief Secretary Prem Prashat disclosed this while replying to a question here today. Mr Prashat said the state government had demanded a sum of Rs 170 crore from the Centre to raise the policing level in.....
