CAPCO demands total ban on colas

Tirupati, Sep 13 (UNI) The Confederation of Andhra Pradesh Consumers Organisations (CAPCO) has demanded a total ban on sale of cola drinks in the state on the lines of the ban imposed by the Kerala and Karnataka governments recently.

CAPCO's Rayalaseema Regional Secretary P Raja Reddy today said that the ban on cola drinks inside the premises of government schools and colleges would be of little use as not many of them have canteens.

Talking to UNI, he demanded that the government should study the extent of pesticide content in the aerated beverages.

He also sought a ban on packaged drinking water, which did not adhere to ISI norms.

The organisation was contemplating introduction of consumer clubs in schools to make the movement stronger, he added.
