Bhupathi-Ancic pair storms to 2nd round of China Open

Beijing, Sep 13 (UNI) Tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi teamed up with Mario Ancic of Croatia to tame the Hyung-Taik Lee-Yeu-Tzou Wang pair in straight sets to storm into the second round of the 475,000 dollar China Open here.

The Bhupathi-Ancic pair never faced any problem against their unheralded opponents from Korea and Chinese Taipei and cantered to a 6-3, 6-3 win in the first round match.

In the second round, they take on third seeded American pair of Eric Butorac and Travis Parrot, who beat Thai duo of Sanchai Ratiwatana and Sonchat Ratiwatana 6-2, 6-3.

Anther injury scare for England, Hoggard sustains side strain

London, Sep 13 (UNI) Matthew Hoggard gave England yet another injury scare before Ashes series after the seamer pulled out of Yorkshire's match against Nottinghamshire with a side strain. Yorkshire physiotherapist Scott McAllister said later that Hoggard had undergone an ultra-sound scan which was clear, but he would have an MRI scan tomorrow to see if there was a small strain.
