Army to take up developmental projects in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 13 (UNI) The army will initiate various developmental projects in the insurgency affected states like Manipur under 'Operation Sadbhavana'.

The army has also started another project 'Singhat' at Churachandpur district as a model village.

Inaugurating a youth centre at Kangpokpi, Lt General Z U Shah said in Senapati district yesterday that the 14 Assam Rifles has constructed of a youth centre as part of the ongoing Military Civic Action (MCA) programmes.

The project would be executed in next three years at a cost of Rs 102 lakhs. During the first phase, a library cum reading room and a gymnasium had been constructed at the cost of Rs 22 lakhs.

The facility include hostels, stadium, volleyball court and a computer centre. The project would be run by the youth of those areas.

Chief Justice for Jharkhand High Court appointed

New Delhi, Sep 13: President A P J Abdul Kalam has appointed Justice Muthusamy Karpagavinayagam as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office. Justice Muthuswamy was a Judge at the Madras High Court, an official statement here said.The President also appointed Judicial Officers P R Shivakumar and G Rajasuria, as Additional Judges of the Madras High Court, in the order of seniority, for two years.....

CPI calls countrywide strike on Dec 14

Jabalpur, Sep 13 (UNI) Equating the Centre's UPA regime with its predecessor NDA government, the CPI today announced a countrywide strike on December 14 against alleged anti-labour policies. AP DGP rules out possible LTTE links to recent arms haul

Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Swaranjith Sen ruled out the possibility of any LTTE links to the recent arms haul in Prakasham and Mahabubnagar districts in that state.
