Arma and bombs seized from shop and hotel in Asom

Silchar, Sep 13 (UNI) Two people were arrested and a huge cache of arms and ammunition was seized from Hailakhandi in south Asom last night, police said today.

The CRPF conducted a night-long raid at Zia market area of Gachtola and recovered two hand grenades, a number of detonators, some fusewire and one unauthorised pistol from a hotel and a departmental store.

Two people were also taken into custody in this connection and interrogation was on.

Hailakandi SP Anand Mohan Tiwari said the recovery of the explosives had prompted police to keep extensive vigil during the coming festive season throughout the district.

He said additional forces would be deployed in the town and metal detectors used in some of the puja pandals in the sensitive areas of the town.

Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) The customs officials at Meenambakkam Airport have seized two parcels of scheduled drug ''Ketamine'', which had been banned in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and China. Anand, Sept 13 (UNI) Local Crime Branch seized Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) near Boriyavi village, 8 kms from here on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai highway in the wee hours today.
