APSRTC registers profit: MD

Tirupati, Sep 13: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) registered a profit of Rs 176-crore during the first five months of this fiscal, its managing director and vice-chairman Krishna Rao said here today.

Addressing the presspersons, after an interactive-session with depo managers, divisional managers and regional managers of Prakasam, Nellore and Chittoor districts here, he said of the total profit, Nellore zone registered Rs 29 crore and Chittoor region alone gained Rs 19 crore, which is second place in the state.

Referring to the privatisation of routes, he said the existing RTC routes would not be privatised and the government was planning to give permission to private operators at new routes.

Due to increase in pilgrims to Tirupati, the present bus depo would be likely be shifted to Mangalam, he added.

Oppn forces Assembly adjournment on power shortage
