AP to see revival of Southwest monsoon

Hyderabad, Sep 13 (UNI) Under the influence of an active east-west shear zone, Andhra Pradesh's was likely to see the revival of the South-west monsoon, ending month-long dry spell witnessed in many parts of the state.

Hyderabad Meterological Centre Director M Satya Kumar today said rain or thundershowers are likely at many places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh in the next 24 hours. There would be an increase in rainfall activity all over the state, he added.

Mr Satya Kumar said rain or thundershowers were also likely in parts of the city.

Rain occurred at a few places over Telangana and Rayalaseema and isolated over Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Kaleswaram (Karimnagar dist) recorded very heavy rainfall of 24 cm and Vempalli (Cuddapah dist) heavy rainfall of 12 cm, followed by Jagitiyal and Sultanabad (both Karimnagar dist), Khanapur (Adilabad dist), Pulivendala and Rayachoty (both Cuddapah dist) and Venkatapuram (Khammam dist) five each.

Badvel and Lakkireddipalli (both Cuddapah dist), Chinnoor (Adilabad dist), Eturnagaram (Warangal dist), Metpalli (Karimnagar dist), Perur (Khammam dist) four each, Bhadrachalam, Jammalamadugu and Rajampet (both Cuddapah dist), Kollapur (Mahabubnagar dist) three each.

IAS officer slaps defamation notice on CM

Naxalite menace affects BJP membership campaign

Patthalgaon, Sep 13 (UNI) Apart from disturbing normal life and obstructing development, naxalite menace has affected BJP membership campaign in Chhattisgarh. ''Membership campaign in three districts of Bastar region could not be completed owing to naxalite problem. As a result, BJP organisational polls had been postponed,'' State BJP President and MP Vishnu Dev Sai told UNI. TNCC observers to study party chances in local polls

Chennai, Sept 13 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee today appointed observers for each revenue district in the state to study the party's victory prospects in the ensuing local body elections. TNCC President M Krishnasamy said in a statement the observers would visit the districts and collect feedback from the local units. They would then convene a meeting at which local leaders, including representatives from all wings of the party, should give their views in.....
