AP DGP rules out possible LTTE links to recent arms haul

Chennai, Sep 13 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police Swaranjith Sen ruled out the possibility of any LTTE links to the recent arms haul in Prakasham and Mahabubnagar districts in that state.

Talking to reporters, Mr Sen, who was here to hold discussions with his Tamil Nadu counterpart D Mukherjee and City Police Commissioner Letika Saran on the recent investigation reports that the arms were manufactured and transported from Ambattur here, said the investigation was progressing smoothly and it was not fair to reveal the facts at this juncture as it would hamper smooth conduct of further investigation.

Mr Sen also confirmed the report that the arms, which were not highly modern or sophisticated, were manufactured in Ambattur area in the city.

To a question, he said he was not aware of the arrest of anyone named Srinivasa Reddy in connection with the case.

The name itself was fictitious, he said.

Mr Sen said the Department has come out with a computerised image of the person, after thorough investigation.

To a question, regarding the setting up of new Marine Police stations, he said the setting up of Marine Police stations was a routine act and it had nothing to do with the recent arms haul.

As per Centre's decision, all the coastal states would set up Marine Police stations, he added.
