500 TDP activists held

Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Sep 13 (UNI) More than 500 Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists led by its Parliamentary Party Leader Yerra Naidu today staged a dharna before the local Transco office demanding nine hours of continuous power supply to agriculture.

Speaking on the occasion, the leaders alleged the Congress Government failed on all fronts as it concentrated only on irrigation by allocating more funds to the sector.

In contrast, during its regime, the TDP supplied uninterrupted power to farmers even during the drought.

New Delhi, Sep 13 (UNI) Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T.R. Baalu today constituted a committee, comprising senior officials of his ministry and chairpersons of some major ports, to identify the areas where standardisation could be done to expedite the awarding of contracts relating to port development works. Varanasi, Sep 13 (UNI) The high-level Standing Committee on Security directed the Varanasi Nagar Nigam (VNN) officials to ensure the demolition of dilapidated houses near Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi complex here today.
