200 booths in Purulia not safe,Dasmunshi demands CPMF

Purulia, Sep 13 (UNI) Apprehending violence during Saturday's by-election in Purulia Lok Sabha constituency Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi has demanded deployment of para-military forces.

''Central Para Military Forces (CPMF) should be deployed in 200 booths in the constituency as these were not safe,'' he told UNI here yesterday.

Mr Dasmunshi, who also holds the Parliamentary Affairs portfolio, said these booths fall in Balaram, Manbazar, Arsha, Barabazar and Bagmundi police station areas and "were not safe".

''The CPI-M led Left Party goons will capture these 200 booths on September 16,'' he remarked.

Mr Dasmunshi said he had also complained to the Election Commission in this regard.

Meanwhile, Purulia Superintendent of Police A K Prasad today said, ''We are unable to deploy the para-military forces in the other nine police station areas as only 25 companies of CPMF have been alloted for the Maoist-affected Bandwan, Jhalda, Boro, Joy and Kotshila areas.'' He further said, ''Our requirement was 120 companies, but we did not receive it. Instead only 5000 state police have been deployed.'' UNI XC JYN PL KLC1557
