16 hurt in jail violence

Ujjain, MP, Sep 13 (UNI) Sixteen inmates have been injured in violence at a sub-jail at this district's Khachrod area.

One of the victims of yesterday's clash was admitted last night to the government hospital here and was stated to be out of danger.

Intermittent disputes were going on for several days between the people accused of murdering Nagda Industrial Area's Congress leader Dileep Sharma with a rival group.

''Inmate Arun Nair was hospitalised. Prison authorities took immediate action and prevented the situation from worsening.

Criminal cases were registered against five inmates from each group,'' Central Jail, Bhairavgarh, Superintendent Mansharam Patel said.

Patna, Sep 13 (UNI) A single judge bench of Patna High Court today asked the special vigilance court to dispose of the cases against former District Magistrate Gautam Goswami in connection with the flood relief scam within four months. Rejecting a regular bail petition for Dr Goswami, Mr Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad, however, directed the petitioner to approach the high court again in the event of failure on the part of the trial court.....
