S N Sinha cremated

Patna, Sep 5 (UNI) Mortal remains of the former Bihar Chief Minister S N Sinha were consigned to flames with full state honours here at Bansghat on the bank of the Ganges today.

Son of the Congress MP Nikhil Kumar lit the pyre and performed final rituals in the presence of a host of mourners, including deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, Water Resources Minister Ramashrya Prasad Singh and other ministers of the state cabinet.

State Congress President Sadanand Singh, state RJD president Abdul Bari Siddiqui and several MLAs and MLCs cutting across party lines were present to bid final farewell to the departed leader.

Union Minister of Rural Development Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and other leaders were also present on the occasion.

General secretary of the All India Congress Committee Mukul Wasnik paid floral tribute to the departed leader on behalf of the Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Earlier Sinha's body was taken to state assembly from his residence at Boring Road. Speaker of the Bihar assembly Uday Narain Chaudhary and other leaders paid floral tributes to former Chief Minister.

The body was taken to state legislative council, where members of the legislative council(MLCs) led by acting chairman Prof Arun Kumar, paid homage to the departed leader.

Later body of the former Chief Minister was taken to Sadaqat Ashram where Congress leaders, workers and common people paid homage to the departed leader.

Red sandstone tomb for Bismillah Khan announced

Varanasi, Sep 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Mohd Azam Khan today announced that the tomb of shehnai legend Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan at Karballeh Fatimaan here will be built in red sandstone. The minister today visited Karballeh Fatimaan and offered prayers at the grave of the shehnai legend, who passed away on August 21 last in Varanasi only. Later, Mr Khan announced the tomb for the musical icon will be built in red.....

3 policemen go missing during expedition in Kargil

Kargil, Sep 5 (UNI) At least three policemen have gone missing and as many wounded while on an expedition in this border district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said today. They said a group of 19 policemen left for a one- month expedition from Parkarcihk in Panikhar area to Nunkun on August 12. Shiv Sena rally to highlight plight of farmers

Nagpur, Sep 4 (UNI) The Shiv Sena is slated to stage a rally later this month to highlight the plight of farmers in Maharashtra, especially in Vidarbha and Marathwada. Addressing a press conference here today, Shiv Sena MLA Diwakar Rawate said that the 'Santwana Dindi' (compassion rally), which will be undertaken on foot, would begin from Shegaon in Buldhana district of Vidarbha on September 10, and will conclude at Bharaswada in Parabhani district of Marathwada.....
