President leaves for New Delhi

Chennai, Sept 4 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today left for New Delhi by a special IAF aircraft after completing his two-day visit to Tamil Nadu.

Mr Kalam had participted in as many as six functions today in a hectic schedule, including participating in the 150th year celebrations of the University of Madras and inaugurating the renovated historic Senate House of the University.

The President also participated in the Centenary celebrations of the Ambur Muslim Educational Society, Ambur in Vellore district, inaugurated the Centenary celebrations of the Indian Bank and conferred the 'Tholkappiar' award to DMK President and Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Before emplaning Mr Kalam invited the dignitaries from various walks of life and held discussions with them for about an hour.

At the airport, Mr Kalam was seen off by among others, Tamil Nadu Ministers Arcot N Veerasamy and K Ponmudi, top revenue officials, Director General of Police D Mukherjee and representatives of the Defence forces.

''Teenaged girl faked weeping stone ailment'': AIIMS Doctors

Red sandstone tomb for Bismillah Khan announced

Varanasi, Sep 5 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Mohd Azam Khan today announced that the tomb of shehnai legend Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan at Karballeh Fatimaan here will be built in red sandstone. The minister today visited Karballeh Fatimaan and offered prayers at the grave of the shehnai legend, who passed away on August 21 last in Varanasi only. 3 policemen go missing during expedition in Kargil

Kargil, Sep 5 (UNI) At least three policemen have gone missing and as many wounded while on an expedition in this border district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources said today. They said a group of 19 policemen left for a one- month expedition from Parkarcihk in Panikhar area to Nunkun on August 12.
