Mysore-B'lore highway to be opened on Aug 31

Mysore, Aug 30: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will formally inaugurate the four-lane Mysore-Bangalore highway from this end tomorrow.

The 134-km stretch, which had been upgraded into a four-lane highway, would ensure a hassle-free, smooth ride for passengers in just two hours. Work on upgrading the Srirangapatna-Mysore stretch of the highway into a six-lane road would commence tomorrow at a cost of Rs 18 crore. It was expected to be completed in 15 months.

Mr Kumaraswamy would arrive here tonight and stay overnight at a remote village in Mysore taluk. Besides the inauguration of the highway, he would participate in various developmental projects worth Rs 120 crore at Nanjangud.

The Chief Minister would also lay the foundation stone for developmental works, ahead of Panchalinga Darshan at Talakadu in November.

Gang of car stereo thieves busted

New Delhi, Aug 30 (UNI) Police today claimed to have busted a gang of car stereo thieves with the arrest of four Bangladeshi nationals from east Delhi. Police said 12 cases of stereo theft, registered in various police stations of East Delhi, have been solved. Ujjain, Aug 30 (UNI) A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) team, led by IG M P Dwivedi, today started investigations, into the death of Madhav College Principal Harbhajan Singh Sabharwal when he was allegedly attacked by some persons on August 26. After Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ordered a CID inquiry into the professor's death, the team arrived here last evening and started investigations. HC refuses to interfere in 'Bombay Mall' demolition order

Allahabad, Aug 30 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today declined to interfere with the demolition order of 'Bombay Mall', situated in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. However, the court directed to release of the appeallant (contemnor), who was in jail following an order by single judge bench. The bench, comprising Justices M C Jain and K K Mishra, passed this order on an appeal filed by Mukesh Kumar Jain, who was convicted and sent to jail.....
