Steps assured to promote Mysore as IT destination

Mysore, Aug 28: Karnataka IT, BT and Science and Technology Principal Secretary Anup K Pujari today assured necessary help to project Mysore as the best destination for IT development.

Inaugurating a seminar on 'Technology Adoption for Increased Productivity', organised jointly by the Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industdries and Processware System Pvt Ltd here, he recalled the Chief Minister's 'Brand Bangalore is the best' slogan, under which plans were afoot to develop not only Bangalore but also Mysore as IT destinations. The IT industry must also be taken to the rural sector and its benefits must reach the people, he opined.

The official noted that the city had CFTRI in the field of BT and was considered an academic centre of excellence for science and technology, with several such institutions located here.

Speaking on the occasion, District Industrial Centre Joint Director H Prakash alleged that the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board was not alloting lands to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and urged the Principal Secretary to initiate measures to immediately acquire all the newly identified industrial land in and around Mysore so that SMEs could be provided the lands before they were grabbed by the land mafia.

Pakistan lodges protest with India over ceasefire violation

Kumaraswamy lays foundation stone for grade separator

Bangalore, Aug 28: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today laid the foundation stone for the Rs 23 crore grade separator project at the junction of the newly constructed Bangalore-Mysore four-lane State highway near Kengeri here.The proposed grade separator, scheduled to be completed within 15 months, would facilitate unhindered traffic flow in the 140-km stretch between this IT city and the city of palaces and reduce accident rates.
