Tsunami victims get house from Gov

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Aug 25: Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala handed over the keys of the houses built for the tsunami victims at Pattipulamkuppam here today.

As many as 245 houses were reconstructed jointly by BAPS Swaminarayana Sanstha, India and BAPS Care International, USA.

The killer waves had claimed 130 lives in this district alone.

Mr Barnala commended the works of the NGOs which were in the front line to serve the tsunami-affected people of coastal India.

Turkish president opposes sending troops to Lebanon

AP govt to create 1 million jobs in three years

Hyderabad, Aug 26: The Andhra Pradesh Government will create one million jobs in the next three years, Youth Services Minister D Prasada Rao informed the State Assembly.In a written reply to Congress member S Udayabhanu, he said the Government had constituted a Employment Generation Mission (EGM) under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary at the state-level and District EGM headed by the District Collector concerned to achieve this. The EGM would identify sector-wise demand, tie up with financing.....

China's economy poised to overtake US-Fischer

JACKSON HOLE, Wyoming, Aug 25 (Reuters) China's economy could be the world's largest within 25 years, although it won't be able to keep up its current break-neck pace forever, Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer said on Friday.
