Kumaraswamy ridicules his critics on CD issue

Bangalore, Aug 24 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today said it was high time leaders brought out Compact Discs (CDs) on the condition of roads in their constituencies, instead of targeting him.

Speaking to newspersons after the Coordination Committee meeting here, the Chief Minister, without naming anyone said, ''Let them first bring out CDs on the condition of roads, especially between Hosur and Gulbarga and then other CDs targeting to his government.'' Suspended BJP legislator G Janardhana Reddy had released evidences such as CDs, audio tapes and other documents yesterday to prove his charge that Mr Kumaraswamy and Forests Minister C Chennigappa had taken a bribe of Rs 150 crore from the mining lobby in Bellary district.

Mr Kumaraswamy said he discussed the condition of roads, especially the state highways in northern parts of Karnataka, at the meeting.

He recalled that he had visited several districts, including Gulbarga, and was at a loss to understand why the condition of the roads were bad, despite the leaders getting re-elected from the constituency several times.

Asked whether the government would come out with a package to improve the condition of roads, he said, ''Our government believes in development and not package of measures which do not reach common people.'' The Coordination Committee comprised representatives from both the ruling coalition partners JD (S) and the BJP.
