New Delhi, Aug 24: BJP MP M A Kharabela Swain today said he was ''terrified'' by Mr R K Rana's (RJD) attempted attack on him in the well of the Lok Sabha, shortly after the House had adjourned, by throwing the audio-output box at him.
Mr Swain said he escaped getting hit seriously as the missile had hit the table first because of the cord attached to it before falling on his stomach.
Recounting the ugly scenes witnessed in the adjourned House, Mr Swain told reporters that Mr Sadhu Yadav (RJD) menacingly rushed towards Mr Prabhunath Singh (JD-U) with his fist clenched and raised, crossed the well and came close to the JD-U member with the obvious intention of assaulting the opposition MP, who had levelled allegations against some central ministers.
Mr Yadav was, however, held back by BJP members Ashok Pradhan and Brij Bhushan Singh, and others, he said.
Meanwhile, other RJD members had rushed into the well and stood along the table just below the Secretary General where Lok Sabha reporters and other officials sit.
Mr Swain said he also went to the well and tried to reason with the unruly RJD members, stating that it was not the Bihar assembly, but Parliament of India and they better behave themselves.
Upon this, Mr Rana picked up the audio output box, made of wood and measuring about one-foot by half-foot, and threw it at ''me'' (Swain), but because of the attached cord, it hit the table first before falling on him, he said.
Otherwise, he said he would have had suffered some serious injuries.
''For the first time during my nearly ten years of tenure as a Lok Sabha member, I felt that I could be attacked in such a way on the floor of the House,'' he said.
''It would remain a nightmarish experience for me,'' he added.
All the shameful developments took place, seconds after Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had left the House after adjourning the House following a furore that had erupted after Mr Prabhunath Singh's remarks, much of which the Chair had expunged.
