Bismillah's wish for 'halwa' fulfilled by ex DUSU president

Varanasi, Aug 20 (UNI) The former president of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) Alka Lamba, won the heart of shehnai legend Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan by fulfilling his wish for the taste of 'halwa'.

The former student leader, who is an AICC member, accompanied Union HRD Minister Arjun Singh at the hospital where Khan Sahib is being treated.

''On coming to know from Mr Singh about late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's birth anniversary, Khan Sahib wished he could savour the sweetness of 'halwa' on the ocassion,'' Ms Lamba told UNI here.

The young Congress leader immediately rushed to the guest house of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and prepared 'Sooji halwa' for the music icon.

''It was great meeting Khan Sahib, but unforgettable to render the taste of the sweetdish to him from my own hands,'' added an awestruck Ms Lamba.

Ms Lamba, the former DUSU president had unsuccessfully contested the 2003 Delhi assembly elections against Madan Lal Khurana from the Moti Nagar constituency.

Opposition attacks govt for hike in electricity tariff

Kolkata, Aug 19 (UNI) West Bengal Congress today demanded cancellation of NCERT's publication of history book, where national heroes were identified as terrorists.
