Truck runs over woman, villagers torch a truck and bus

Jaipur, Aug 14 (UNI) Enraged villagers torched a truck and a Rajasthan Roadways bus today after a woman was crushed to death by a truck.

The villagers also attacked the police force which reached the spot forcing the district administration to rush additional police reinforcement.

Tension gripped the village under Chaksu police station in Jaipur after Shanti Devi (60) was killed when a truck run over her.

Angry villagers put up road blockades and jammed the highway for three hours, causing traffic congestion on the busy National Highway No 12. They also set afire the truck and a Roadways bus coming from Kota.

According to police, the incident occured around 1300 hrs. The traffic was blocked and the roads jammed till 1530 hrs.

AP Police demands more time to investigate SC, ST cases

Vaghela terms Surat flood as man-made disaster, slams Modi govt

Ahmedabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Terming the floods in Surat as a ''man-made'' disaster, Union Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela today blamed the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat for triggering it by releasing huge quantity of water from the Ukai dam without giving prior warning to the people.
