TFA retains JSA league title

Jamshedpur, Aug 14 (UNI) Defending champions Tata Football Academy (TFA) defeated Tata Steel by a solitary goal to retain the super division title of the McDowell's Celebrations Jamshedpur Sporting Association (JSA) Football league here.

TFA toiled hard to earn victory as the Tata Steel players gave a tough fight and managed to hold their reputed opponent till the lemon break yesterday.

In the second half, TFA bounced back strongly to score the all important goal in the 80th minute through star striker T B Bineesh.

TFA earned 12 points in four matches to remain on the top slot while Tata Steel had to be content with nine points for the second position.

National literacy rate stands at 64.84 pc

New Delhi, Aug 14: The literacy rate in Uttar Pradesh was 56.27 per cent as against the 64.84 per cent at the national level as per the last census held in 2001, Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh told the Rajya Sabha today.During 2005-06, 2.76 lakh men and 3.51 lakh women were made literate in the 15-35 age group, he said during question hour quoting information provided by the Uttar Pradesh government.Across the country, 10.84 lakh men and 14.77 lakh women turned.....

K S Oils to issue FCCBs/GDRs in intl market

New Delhi, Aug 14: KS Oils Ltd, an integrated edible oil manufacturing company today said it will issue Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds (FCCBs)/Global Depository Receipts (GDRs) or other instruments, in the international markets amounting up to 20 million dollars."The company will issue any other form of receipts or instruments or securities convertible into equity shares in the international markets upto 20 million dollars or equivalent thereof, subject to necessary permissions, sanctions, approvals and applicable provisions of law," a company statement said.K S.....

Lebanese minister says truce holding up

Paris, Aug 14: Lebanese Finance Minister Jihad Azour said on today a UN-brokered truce to end nearly five weeks of fighting between Israel and Hizbollah was holding up and that there was no more shooting.Asked on France 2 television whether the guns had fallen silent, Azour said, "According to the information I have until now, yes.
