Sidhu prays at Mahakaleshwar

Ujjain, MP, Aug 14 (UNI) Cricketer and MP Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has entered millions of homes via small-screen programmes during which he makes innumerable wisecracks and recites Urdu couplets, visited this ancient temple town's world-renowned Mahakaleshwar shrine at 0400 hrs today along with his wife and took part in the Bhasmarti ritual wherein ash from cremation grounds is traditionally employed for worship.

Mr Sidhu reached here, along with Madhya Pradesh Public Works Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, after paying his respects at Nimaad region's Omkareshwar, one of India's dozen 'jyotirlingas'.

The parliamentarian rested at the Panchayati Udasin Akhara on the Kshipra's bank.

Agartala, Aug 14: Eastern India's first heat resistant rubber thread manufacturing plant has been set up by the Dharampal Satyapal(DS) Group in Tripura today.A state-of-the-art manufacturing facility with an installed capacity of 5,000 Metric Tonne (MT) per annum was inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar here.The plant, located at the Industrial Growth Centre at Budhjung Nagar, is about 17 km from the capital city.Sophisticated machines worth Rs 80 crore were imported from Italy. Security beefed up ahead of I-Day

Kolkata, Aug 14 (UNI) Security has been beefed up at key buildings and vital installations here ahead of Independence Day celebrations tomorrow.
