Shivika lifts Amman ITF Junior Circuit girl's crown in Jordan

Kolkata, Aug 14 (UNI) Kolkata girl Shivika Burman lifted the doubles crown at the Amman ITF Junior Circuit at the Jordan Tennis Federation Al Hussain Sport City in Amman.

This was a Grade 5 tournament. Seeded second in singles, Shivika who is currently 382nd in the ITF rankings, beat Sara Fadda of Jordan 6-0,6-0 in the pre- quarter finals.

In the quarter finals she defeated Egypt's Yara Abou El Ghar 6-1,6-0. But lost in the semis to fourth seed Slovak girl Lucia Kovarcikova 6-7(7-9),0-6.

In the doubles Shivika partnered Oman's Fatma Al Nabhani. The top seeded pair first defeated Kuwaiti pair of Shireen Al Hasani and Amar Al Jazzaf 6-2,6-1 in the quarters and then went on to beat the third seeded Indo- Slovak pair of Adnya Naik and Lucia Kovarcikova 7-6(9-7), 4-6, 6-3.

In the finals Shivika and Fatma beat Fiona List and Christina Mathis, both from Austria, 6-7(3-7),7-5,6-4.

Another Indian girl to make waves in Jordan was Adnya Naik ranked 749 in ITF. She reached the semi finals of the singles beating Firni Hammanji of Syria 6-0, 6-0 in the pre-quarters.

In the quarters she created an upset and defeated third seed Line Ghannan of Syria 6-3,6-3 but was defeated by fifth seed Egyptian Menna El Nagdy 6-7(5-7), 5-7.

Rajiv Shukla joins Advinus Therapeutics

Kolkata, Aug 14 (UNI) Rajiv Shukla has been appointed Vice-President, Head of Business Development and Marketing of Advinus Therapeutics from August 2006. Advinus Therapeutics is a joint venture between the Tata Group and Dr Rashmi Barbhaiya, the former head of research at Ranbaxy. In this capacity, he will be responsible for leading worldwide business development, project management and marketing across Advinus Therapeutics. Ethiopia invites Indian investments

Kolkata, Aug 14 (UNI) African country Ethiopia today invited Indian investments in textile, leather, agri-products, infrastructure and energy sectors and said Ethiopian Airlines is examining options to bring its flights to Kolkata. Adani Exports name changed to Adani Enterprises

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) The flagship company of the Adani Group, Adani Exports Ltd, today said it has changed the name of the company to Adani Enterprises Ltd.
