Security heightened for I-Day fete in Guj

Ahmedabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Security measures across the State have been tightened and police force deployed at key places in view of the Independence day celebrations tomorrow.

Intelligence reports have already raised an alert about possible security threats at airports, railway stations and other public places like multiplexes, shopping complexes and religious sites.

Police is keeping a close watch at the city's entry and exit points and vehicles are also being checked, apart from the routine checking being carried out in the city and at sensitive points.

Hotels, too, are being checked as a part of the heightened security, sources said.

The Ahmedabad airport has come under special police cover and a special check-posts across the airport has been set up jointly by the airport authorties and the Central Industrial Safety Force (CISF).

All theatres in the city have been fitted with close-circuit televisions (CCTVs) to keep a track of any suspicious movement.

Meanwhile, railway police is also on high alert. Additional Special Railway Police (SRP) jawans have been put on duty at the railway stations for round-the-clock vigil, to prevent any untoward incident.

Rail traffic disrupted in MP

Bhopal, Aug 14 (UNI) Rail traffic on the Bhopal-Bina section of West Central Railway remained disrupted following landslide near Dewanganj and waterlogging of tracks due to heavy rains in the state capital. Many trains plying on New Delhi-Chennai and Bhopal-Mumbai routes were running six-seven hours behind schedule.
