S K Pande elected as DUJ President

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Mr S K Pande, Indian News Network Bureau Chief, has been elected the President of the Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) for 2006.

The polls to elect the office bearers of the DUJ were held on August 12. The team for Continuity, Change and Action, headed by Mr Pande, swept the polls.

While Mr Dinesh Chandra was elected as the Vice President, Mr Javed Faridi was elected as the General Secretary.

Mr Shamim Siddiqui, Mr Madan Lal Talwar and T K Rajalakshmi were elected to the posts of secretaries. Ms Sujata Madhok was elected as the treasurer.

Polls were also held to elect the new Executive Committee and the National Council.

Maoists join hands against US

Gaya, Aug 14 (UNI) Ironing out their differences, Maoists of India and Nepal have joined hands against 'American interference' in the internal affairs of countries, specially in South Asia. Despite elaborate security arrangements and high alert sounded in the Magadh range on the eve of Independence day, the Maoists distributed a press release in the sensitive Gaya district and announced their joint strategies against 'proletarian internationalism'. The release was signed jointly by Satya of Nepal.....

BHEL bags Rs 1,224 cr order from UP govt

New Delhi, Aug 14: Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has bagged a contract worth Rs 1,224 crore for setting up a 500 MW thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh.The Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (UPRVUNL) has placed the orders for setting up two units of 250 MW each at Parichha TPS Extension, a company statement said today.The project is slated for commissioning in fiscal 2009-10.So far, BHEL has commissioned over 9,000 MW of power.....

FFS Ltd acquires stake in Asian CERC IT Ltd

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) The Ranbaxy group-promoted Fortis Financial Services Ltd (FFSL) today said it will acquire a 28 per cent stake in Asian CERC Information Technology Ltd. Under the share purchase and subscription agreement, FFSL will acquire 23.5 lakh equity shares of Rs 5 each of ACERC Information Technology Ltd, amounting to 28 per cent of the current paid capital of the latter, at the prevailing market price, a company statement said......
