Heavy rain affect rail traffic in MP

Bhopal, Aug 14:  Rail traffic has been badly affected by heavy rains pounding the state capital and adjoining areas since last night with the Raptisagar Express' engine getting derailed near Midghat station in Bhopal Division of the West Central Railway.

About 22 trains were running two-five hours behind schedule due to the accident and waterlogging of railway tracks at the Bhopal-Bina division.

Rains disrupted air traffic in the state capital's Raja Bhoj airport and a New Delhi-bound Indian Airlines flight was cancelled.

Incoming flights from New Delhi are expected to be delayed.

''On receiving information about the train accident, a relief vehicle and senior railway officials reached the spot,'' West Central Railway (Bhopal division) PRO Anil Jain said.

Mr Jain said up and down rail traffic was disrupted after the accident but it was restored this morning.
