Police registers case against footballer Vijayan, 5 others

Thrissur, Aug 14 (UNI) Police registered a case against footballer I M Vijayan and five others for allegedly assaulting employees of a tourist home here today.

An employee of the Bini Tourist Home was allegedly injured in the incident and admitted to the district hospital here, police said.

Police said previous enmity might be the reason for the incident.

The case was registered under non-bailable sections.

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) The special MCOCA court here today extended the police custody of Firoz Deshmukh, arrested in connection with the seizure of explosives and ammunition from Aurangabad till August 28. Deshmukh was produced before MCOCA court judge Mridula Bhatkar who extended his remand till August 28. Truck runs over woman, villagers torch a truck and bus

Jaipur, Aug 14 (UNI) Enraged villagers torched a truck and a Rajasthan Roadways bus today after a woman was crushed to death by a truck. The villagers also attacked the police force which reached the spot forcing the district administration to rush additional police reinforcement. Tension gripped the village under Chaksu police station in Jaipur after Shanti Devi (60) was killed when a truck run over her. Angry villagers put up road blockades.....

Four died, 15 injured in Minibus accident.

Kolkata, Aug 14 (UNI) At least four passengers were killed on the spot and 15 injured, some of them seriously, when a Minibus in which they were travelling overturned at Karnapur in Hooghly district this evening. Official sources here said the mishap occurred at around 19 hrs near Arambagh town, about 50 km from here, when the driver of the bus failed to control the vehicle while trying to save a cyclist coming from the opposite.....

Acid spills from overturned tanker

Jhabua, MP, Aug 14 (UNI) Panic prevailed after an acid-laden tanker overturned this afternoon on the Indore-Ahmedabad road near this district's Masuria village 10 km from here, police said. Providentially, no casualties were reported. The vehicle was rammed by another tanker from the rear, overturned and its valve opened leading to acid flow. AP Police demands more time to investigate SC, ST cases
