Multi-layered security for I-day

Ranchi, Aug 14 (UNI) Dog squads and specialists worked on war footing today and multi-layer security arrangements were made at the main official venue here to ensure incident-free Independence Day celebrations in Jharkhand tomorrow.

Altogether 16 out of total 22 districts are dominated by CPI (Maoist) ultras in the state.

Anticipating militant attack on the eve of Day's celebrations tomorrow, security was further tightened with instructions to intelligence department to maintain coordination in sharing information.

Going by the past experience, special care was taken for Uranium Corporation Limited, Central Met laboratory, Indian Institute of Coal Mines, Central Mines Planning and Design Institute among some of the important installations.

Vigil was kept on railway stations keeping in view last year's Maoist attack that damaged railway tracks in several areas.

The security forces and state police were directed to work with better coordination.

Meanwhile, adequate security had been being maintained at the Birsa Munda airport since the serial blasts in Mumbai.

Flood situation continues to be alarming

Vijayawada, Aug 14 (UNI) Due to heavy discharge of rain water from Srisailam to Nagarjunasagar reservoir, the flood situation along river Krishna continued to be alarming for the tenth day today. Talking to UNI here, an official in the Irrigation Department said about 4.13 lakh cuses of surplus water was sent from Nagarjunasagar to Prakasam barrage till 0900 hrs. Govt. to end contract labour in FCI depots:Pawar
