Monsoon active in Kolhapur again

Kolhapur, Aug 14 (UNI) After a brief lull, monsoon became active once again in the district today, disrupting normal life.

Though rains subsided on Friday and Saturday, incessant rains started last evening and continue. Lashing the district till now, creating problems for people residing on the banks of Panchaganga, Krishna and Warna rivers, where people have already been under fear since last fortnight due to flood water.

People got some relief as normalcy was limping back because of decrease in rains and subsequent decrease in water discharge from dams, but revival in rains again spread the panic further .

Although the river water level is lowered and currently flowing under danger mark, the situation in worst affected Shirol tehsil's four villages - Rajapur, Rajapurwadi, Khidrapur, Bustwad remains unchanged, These villages have been marooned for last fifteen days and still shifting operation continues, District Collector office sources said today.

Meanwhile, the district recorded 357.6mm rainfall during last 24hrs ending this morning at 0800hrs, the sources added.

Rail traffic disrupted in MP

Bhopal, Aug 14 (UNI) Rail traffic on the Bhopal-Bina section of West Central Railway remained disrupted following landslide near Dewanganj and waterlogging of tracks due to heavy rains in the state capital. Many trains plying on New Delhi-Chennai and Bhopal-Mumbai routes were running six-seven hours behind schedule. ''Several trains -- including Bhopal Express, GT Express, Pushpak Express, Karnataka Express, Malwa Express and Tamil Nadu Express -- were running behind schedule,'' West Central Railway.....
