Kyocera waiting for emergence of WCDMA

Bangalore, Aug 14: Japanese mobile telephone manufacturing major, Kyocera Wireless India (KWI), is waiting for the WCDMA technology to emerge to make a major foray into the Indian market.

Speaking after inauguration of the new office premises in its India facility in the city today, KWI Managing Director Samartha Nagabhushanam said ''WCDMA will become the sole technology in cell phone application in three to four years. Kyocera, leader in CDMA, will move towards the technology, once it emerges.'' KWI, which had sold two million sets in India, would make a major foray into the market once it started adopting WCDMA technology, he added.

Mr Nagabhushanam said the company was using its base in the country to mainly cater to its US market. It also had its manufacturing bases in Japan, China and the US.

The company, established three years ago in India, had a headcount of 570.

KWI President Takeru Ohira said Kyocera, a 40 billion Dollar entity had research and manufacturing bases in Japan, China and US, besides India. The Bangalore facility had both the state-of-the-art laboratory, that had produced 29 patents so far, and a manufacturing base having an end-to-end capacity including component building and equipment manufacturing.

Abducted toddlers in Meghalaya remains untraced after 12 days

Shillong, Aug 14 (UNI) Even after 12 days, the whereabouts of the two abducted school-going children in Meghalaya remains unknown, despite efforts made by the state police and Border Security Force to trace them. A three-member police crack team has been deployed along the Indo-Bangla border, the area police suspect the abductors are hiding in, to track four-year-old school children, Sanchita and Harsha Goel. The BSF have even requested the Bangladesh Rifles to trace the two.....

People cautioned against Money Circulation Schemes(MCS)

Hyderabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Concerned over the mushrooming Money Circulation Schemes, the Andhra Pradesh Police today urged the public not to fall a prey by enrolling themselves in Multi-level Marketing Companies and Money Circulation Schemes. A major section of people from different walks of life had been cheated of crores of rupees by such companies which lured them to become rich overnight, the State Economics Wing police pointed out and urged the public to pass.....
