Four live bombs recover from a girls' school

Siliguri, Aug 14 (UNI) Panick struck in KLO dominated Jalpaiguri district on eve of Independence Day celebration following unearthing of four live bombs from a girls' school that led to beefing up security system in all three internationl borders including Bangladesh, senior official sources said.

An anonymous call to Phalakhata police station informed that four powerful bombs had entered the district and might be detonated on or before August 15. Police immediately launched combing operation and finally recovered those bombs in a room of Salkumar Girls' High School under Phalakhata block.

Bomb squad from Siliguri police and experts from Army from Binaguri cantonment with sniffer dogs rushed to the spot and they defused the bombs, according to Inspector General of police, north Bengal, Kishan Lall Meena.

He said the bombs apparently were made with copper wire by experts and those could be detonated with remote control devise.

He said Army and police were joinly investigating the whole episode if there was any link of terrorist group in importing bombs.

Jalpaiguri is known for good base of militant organsition Kamtapur Liberation Organisation and every year during independece day celebration the outfit tries to make its present felt by violence method.

Mr Lall said the security system in borders of Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh has been tightened immediately after recovery of bombs.

All railway stations, important installations and vital bridges were also come under heavy security network.

Four militants surrender in Kashmir after return from POK

Srinagar, Aug 14 (UNI) Four militants surrendered alongwith arms and ammunition at Uri in north Kashmir immediately after they returned back from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
