Four died, 15 injured in Minibus accident.

Kolkata, Aug 14 (UNI) At least four passengers were killed on the spot and 15 injured, some of them seriously, when a Minibus in which they were travelling overturned at Karnapur in Hooghly district this evening.

Official sources here said the mishap occurred at around 19 hrs near Arambagh town, about 50 km from here, when the driver of the bus failed to control the vehicle while trying to save a cyclist coming from the opposite direction.

Soon local people gathered on the spot and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital before extracting the bodies from under the vehicle.

The police later seized the bus though the driver fled the scene under the cover of darkness.

Youngest contingent to take part in Independence Day parade

Hyderabad, Aug 14 (UNI) The Independence Day parade tomorrow at Secunderabad will have a special attraction. -- a pan-Andhra Pradesh contingent dressed smartly with red berets and a white standard from Prem Sadan, the network of boys hostels run by the Andhra Pradesh Police. It is also the youngest contingent ever to participate in the Independence Day march-past. The average age of the boys is 14. There are 51 of them- all sons of policemen who.....

Vaghela terms Surat flood as man-made disaster, slams Modi govt

Ahmedabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Terming the floods in Surat as a ''man-made'' disaster, Union Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela today blamed the Narendra Modi government in Gujarat for triggering it by releasing huge quantity of water from the Ukai dam without giving prior warning to the people. ''The government had earlier said it would not release water before August 15, but did so a week before. Without prior instructions, they ordered release of 10 lakh cusecs.....

Israel blames Iran for supplying weapons to Hizbul militants

Kolkata, Aug 14 (UNI) The month-long hostility between Israeli forces and Hizbul militants in Lebanon claiming over 1,000 lives so far, may finally come to an end following the implementation of a UN sponsored ceasefire in the region from today, an Israeli diplomat said. This sense of optimism was expressed by Michal Gur-Aryeh, the official Spokesperson of the Israeli Embassy in India, while participating in an interactive session with members of the ''Indo-Isreal Friendship Association''.....
