Blast rocks Colombo, Team India safe

Colombo, Aug 14 (UNI) A bomb blast today rocked the Sri Lankan capital just a kilometre away from hotel Taj Samudra where Team India is staying.

However, the players are safe and were not even aware of the incident.

Team's media manager Rajan Nair told UNI that the blast took place one km away from the team hotel and there was nothing to worry about.

''We were not even aware of the incident till somebody came and informed us. We didn't hear anything either,'' he said.

''There's nothing to worry. All the players in the hotel are safe and secure,'' he added.

Israel army keeps ban on traffic in south Lebanon

JERUSALEM, Aug 14 (Reuters) The Israeli army maintained its ban on unauthorised traffic in south Lebanon today even as thousands of refugees waited to return to their homes after a UN-brokered truce with Hizbollah guerrillas went into effect. COLOMBO, Aug 14 (Reuters) A military convoy escorting a Pakistan Embassy vehicle was hit by a bomb in central Colombo today, but only a Land Rover at the rear was caught in the blast, and three people were injured, a Reuters witness said. COLOMBO, Aug 14: Seven people were killed and 17 others were injured today, when a security forces convoy escorting a Pakistan embassy vehicle was hit by a Claymore fragmentation mine, officials and bomb squad officers said.A driver from the convoy said the embassy vehicle was slightly damaged, but no one was hurt.
