Barnala's son remanded in 14-day judicial custody

Chandigarh, Aug 14 (UNI) A court here today remanded Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala's son Gaganjit Singh, who is accused of raping his maid, in 14-day judicial custody.

Judicial Magistrate Ist Class (JMIC) Atul Marya remanded the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLA when he was produced before him on the expiry of his one-day police custody.

Barnala's supporters shouted slogans outside the court premises and demanded immediate withdrawal of the ''false case'' registered against him.

The Chandigarh Police, on the complaint of the domestic help, had arrested Gaganajit Singh on August 12.

Meanwhile, two SAD MLAs Gobind Singh Kanjla and Malkiat Singh Kittu demanded a thorough probe by into the incident by the CBI.

Jaipur, Aug 14 (UNI) Owner of the popular brand 'Saras' milk, Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation (RCDF), has bagged an order from Singapore, for providing tetrapacks of milk and ghee. ''RCDF has already sent 15,600 litres of milk and 1,380 kg of ghee to Singapore,'' company sources said. RCF recommended for continuation of ISO-9001:2000

Kapurthala, Aug 14 (UNI) Rail Coach Factory (RCF) has been recommended for the continuation of ISO-9001:2000 certification by a team of auditors who conducted an extensive surveillance audit on August 10 and 11, an RCF press release here today said. Woman coolie knocked down, another injured

Kancheepuram, Aug 14 (UNI) A woman was killed on the spot in a road accident, while another woman suffered serious injuries at Indira Nagar junction road in Madurantakam near here when a mini van kocked them down. Police said the mishap occurred when the victims, working as coolies, were walking by the roadside, last evening. The deceased woman was identified as Valliammal(35).
