Kolkata, Aug 14 (UNI) Baichung Bhutia has been named captain for India's AFC Cup qualifier match against Saudi Arabia at Salt Lake stadium on August 16.
Bhutia's return to national squad after a brief sabbatical when he resigned from the nationl side citing lack of motivation.
However, after meeting coach Hougnton, Baichung rejoined the national camp last Tuesday.
The pin-up boy of Indian soccer has been captaining India for the last five years and led the country to win many ties.
Upon his return, Shanmugam Venkatesh will once again play the role of his deputy. Venkatesh welcomed Baichung's return and said he was only to play under him.
Hougnton also welcomed Bhutia's return and hoped it will isnpire the team to do better.
