AP Govt withdraws GO 5

Hyderabad, Aug 14 (UNI) Ahead of the Monsoon session of the State Assembly beginning on August 17, the Andhra Pradesh Government today withdrew Government Order(GO) No.5 relating to implementation of third phase of reforms in Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs), but made it clear that it would go ahead with reforms.

At a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, it was decided that reforms which was initiated decades ago, would go on and would have no connection with the said GO, an official release said.

Assuring the PSE employees that ''no employee will lose his job and the Government will create lakhs of more jobs'', it said that the Government had decided to cancel the GO to remove employees' fear and not give any scope for certain parties to take advantage of the siutation and mislead them.

Congress demands dismissal of Bihar Energy Minister

Patna, Aug 14 (UNI) The State Congress today demanded sacking of Bihar's Energy minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav, who has been declared 'absconder' by a local court. A delegation under chief spokesman of state Congress, Prem Chandra Mishra called on Bihar Governor R S Gavai and urged him to remove the minister from the Bihar Cabinet. Mr Mishra also demanded sacking of Sugar Cane Minister Nitish Mishra as he held an office of profit.....

Mani wants Assembly to meet on custodial deaths

Kochi, Aug 14 (UNI) Condemning to the recent custodial deaths in the state, Kerala Congress (Mani) president K M Mani today alleged the police administration in the state was ''in shambles'' and urged the immediate convening of the Assembly to discuss the issue. Speaking to reporters here, Mr Mani said there were 14 custodial deaths after the Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government came to power and this indicated serious shortcomings.....

Parliament Museum magnificent gift to people: PM

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today complimented the billion-strong people of India for having voluntarily sought their salvation from the legacy of poverty, ignorance and disease through a system of representative government, and said it was unprecedented in ths history of the world. Dr Singh made this remark at the inauguration of the Parliament Museum, located inside the Parliament House, attended by President APJ Abdul Kalam, Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat,.....
