29 prison personnel selected for President's Service Medal

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) A total of 29 prison personnel have been awarded President's Correctional Service Medal on the occasion of Diamond Jubilee of the Independence Day.

Vijay Kumar Gulati, Central Jail, Hissar (Haryana) was posthumously awarded President's Correctional Service Medal for Gallantry.

Two prison officials -- Bankim Chandra Mahanty, Senior Superintendent, Circle Jail, Choudwar, Orissa, and Satyendra Pal Singh Pundhir, Additional DG of Prisons (Training&Development), Sampurnanand Jail Training Institute, Lucknow, have ben selected for President's Correctional Service Medal for Distinguished Service.

In addition, 26 officials have been awarded Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service.

Govt Securities Bill taken up in RS amid protests, walkout

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Amid a walkout by SP, AIADMK and TDP members, the Rajya Sabha today passed the Government Securities Bill, 2006 that seeks to amend the law relating to management of Government securities (G-Secs) by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Earlier, two other Bills -- Central Silk Board (Amendment) Bill, 2005, and The Produce Cess Laws (Abolition) Bill, 2006, -- were passed without much discussion in the absence of adequate number.....
