2 SIMI activists arrested in Mumbai

Mumbai, Aug 14 (UNI) The Mumbai Police Crime Branch have arrested two alleged activists of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) here.

Police Inspector Avinash Dharmadhikari today said, the accused identified as Irfan Sayyed Ansari and Najeeb Bhakalli were arrested late last night from Santa cruz in the western suburbs and Mahim in North Central Mumbai.

The accused were allegedly involved in SIMI activities.

Police believed that the duo was close associate of wanted accused Raheel Ansari.

They will be produced in the Esplanade court later in the day, Dharmadhikari added.

Drop-out rate in primary schools on decline: Govt.

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) Claiming that the retention of pupils in primary schools had been showing a positive trend since the launch of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), the government today said drop-out rates at the primary stage had declined from 39.03 per cent in 2001-02 to 31.36 per cent in 2003-04.
