Karnataka CM discusses highways projects with Baalu

New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy called on Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Minister T.R.Baalu here today and sought the Centre's full cooperation in speedy execution of various projects in the state.

During their meeting, Mr Kumaraswamy apprised Mr Baalu about the progress made in various ongoing projects undertaken by the Shipping, Transport and Highways Ministry in Karnataka.

The Karnataka Chief Minister requested the minister for the provision of rigid pavement to NH-48 at Shiradi Ghat and four-laning of NH-48 from Hassan to B.C.Road and of NH-206 passing through Arasikere town.

Mr Baalu assured the Chief Minister that these projects would be taken into consideration after getting the detailed project reports as well as conducting technical study and traffic survey to see the feasibility.

Mr Kumaraswamy praised the Centre and the Shipping, Road Transport and Highways Ministry for various steps being taken for carrying out the projects in his state within the timeframe.

He said the state government would render full cooperation to the Centre for the early completion of these projects.

Mr Baalu assured Mr Kumaraswamy that his Ministry was committed to overall development of infrastructure in the field of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways in all the states, including Karnataka.

Punjab CM claims Centre has agreed to hike paddy MSP

Baba Bakala, Amritsar, Aug 9 (UNI) Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today claimed that the Centre had agreed in principle to increase the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy. While addressing a public rally, he said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar would soon announce adequate hike in the MSP of paddy. He ridiculed the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) Preisdent and former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.....

Four bodies recovered

Adilabad, Andhra Pradesh, Aug 9 (UNI) The bodies of four persons, including three of a family, belonging to Yavathmal in Maharastra, fished out from Penuganga river, here today. The victims were identified as Om Prakash Nandan (60), Ashadevi (55) Chanchal (32) and the driver Juman Bhai (55) of the van. According to police the family had come to Hyderabad to see off their son who was going to Australia. Their vehicle was washed away, on August.....

Sonia surveys flood damage in AP; Central relief of Rs 200 cr

Hyderabad, Aug 9 (UNI) Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil, who surveyed flood affected coastal Andhra Pradesh along with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi via air, today announced the Centre would release Rs 200 crore from the Calamity Relief Fund to meet immediate relief needs. Mr Patil asked the state government to chalk out a detailed plan for permanent rehabilitation of victims and send it to the Centre so it could be examined by the Planning.....
