I will give a befitting reply to showcause notice

New Delhi, Aug 9: Former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh said last night that he would give a ''befitting'' reply to the showcause notice issued to him by the Congress.

Reacting to the suspension from the primary membership of the Congress, Mr Singh said he had not yet received the suspension letter and had come to know of the decision only through media.

''Main uska muhtod jawaab doonga (I will give a befitting reply to the showcause notice),'' the former Minister said.

The Congress tonight suspended him from the primary membership of the party for indiscipline and also served him a showcause notice, asking him to explain his notice for privilege motion in the Rajya Sabha against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for leakage of Pathak committee report. The showcause notice also asked him to explain why he should not be expelled from the party.
