Journalist, trade union leader passes away

Amalapuram, East Godavari, July 19 (UNI) Journalist, freedom fighter and trade union leader comrade Chintapalli Krishnamurthy died here today due to old age.

He was 84 and is survived by three daughters and five sons.

Mr Krishnamurthy participated in Quit India movement in 1942.

Later, he joined the Communist Party of India (CPI) in 1947. He was in vellore jail from 1949 to 1951.

He contested from Cheyyur assembly constituency as a CPI candidate.

He also spent three months in Russia in 1975.

Several trade union leaders and journalists paid homage to the departed leader.

Amalapuram MLA Chittabbai, Municipal Chairman Nalla Vishnumurthy, Former Minister Metla Satyanarayana Rao, Freedom Fighter Mullapudi Suryanarayana, CPI District Secretary Meeesala Satyanarayana condoled the death of Kishnamurthy.
