Woman killed by Metro train

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) A woman was killed at Chandni Chowk Metro underground station this morning when she 'jumped' onto the track and was hit by a train.

The around 40-year-old unidentified woman went to the rear end of the station, where passengers normally do not go, and presumably jumped before a train at about 0920 hrs, Delhi Metro Rail Corp sources said.

The Metro police was investigating the matter.

The Metro operations on the Central Secretariat-Vishwavidyalaya line were affected for half-an-hour and the trains were running on single line between Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate stations.

Normal train services were restored at 0958 hours.

Alex Kountouris to succeed Errol Alcott as physio for the Aussies

Sydney, July 18 (UNI) Alex Kountouris will succeed Errol Alcott as the physiotherapist of the Australian cricket team following the latter's resignation from the post -- after 22 years -- to take up a similar job with a rugby team. Kountouris, who was with the Sri Lankan team from 1996-2003, has worked for the past three years under Alcott, who has held the job since 1984. Kountouris has also stood in for Alcott during the tours.....
