Tatas to contribute for health care of BPLs of Jharkhand

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) Tata Group today formed the Sarva Swastha Mission with the Government of Jharkhand, Birla, Essar and Jindal for treatment of below poverty line people of the state to which Tatas will contribute Rs 25 crore per annum.

''This experiment of private public- partnership, based on a new concept of health security, would provide health coverage and medical treatment to the poorest of the poor in the state at affordable prices and will encourage private sector health services to reach out to remote areas,'' said a statement released here.

The mission will be independently run by the mission management group reporting to the trust the statement added.

HC Chief Justice retires

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Bombay High Court Chief Justice Kshitij Vyas retired today. He had been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court on February 25. Earlier, he was appointed as a permanent judge of the Gujarat High Court before his elevation as the Chief Justice of Bombay. Born at village Bhalod in Bharuch district, he obtained a degree in law from M S University, Baroda. He, then, enrolled as an advocate.....

MPHC reverses death penalty, sets man free

Jabalpur, July 18 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court today reversed a lower court's death penalty to an accused charged with sacrificing a three-year-old boy at Sagar district's Sanoha village. Justices Shravanshankar Jha and Sugandhilal Jain admitted an appeal by Damoh-resident Mahesh Kurmi and exonerated him while striking down a government SLP. On October 21, 2004, Sagar-resident Chhattarsingh filed a police complaint that his son Shrikant was missing since the previous day. The victim's bloodied.....

Hearing in CPMT case adjourned for tomorrow

Shimla, Jul 18 (UNI) The Himachal High Court today adjourned the hearing in the HP Combined Pre-Medical Test (HPCPMT) case for tomorrow after hearing the arguments of the petitioner and the respondents. In its oral order, the court observed that its intention was that the purity of the examination should be maintained at all cost, saying mere suspicion would be enough for ordering a re-examination. The orders were passed on a petition filed by the Action.....
