State Govt asked to make statement on fresh Bhiwandi violence

Mumbai, July 18 (UNI) Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Babasaheb Kupekar today directed the State Government to make a statement on reports of fresh violence in Bhiwandi against the local police.

The issue was raised by BJP member Eknath Khadse through an adjournment notice. He said there were reports that two policemen were allegedly thrown out of a running vehicle. He expressed concern over the incident and demanded a statement from the Government and a discussion.

Even though the Chair rejected the adjournment notice, the Government was asked to make a statement.

Earlier this month, two policemen were brutally murdered after violence broke out at Bhiwandi when locals protested the construction of a police station there.

Wool Technology Mission to be set up

New Delhi, July 18 (UNI) The Government is planning to set up a Wool Technology Mission to increase wool quality and production in the country. Stating this, Union Textiles Minister Shankersinh Vaghela told the Parliamentary consultative committee of his ministry here today that the Wool Technology Mission would require the active support of the state governments. The mission would be set up in association with the Department of Animal Husbandry. The Minister urged the committee members.....
