Rahul Gandhi likely to be inducted in AICC

New Delhi, July 18(UNI) Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi may be assigned some responsibility in the party in a minor shake up of the All India Congress Committee(AICC) likely to take place shortly.

Mr Gandhi, the son of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, may, in all probability, be given charge of the Congress frontal oranisations as AICC General Secretary or, alternatively, could be made in charge of Uttar Pradesh in view of the approaching Assembly elections there.

"It will not be a major or minor reshuffle of the AICC but only some adjustments will be made,"highly-placed sources said, adding, "the way is now clear for making some adjustments in the AICC." Ruling out the possibility of a reshuffle of the AICC, the sources pointed out that it had already been reconstituted shortly before the Plenary Session of the Congress, held in Hyderabad in January.

The minor shake up of the AICC is also necessitated to fill some vacancies caused by some appointments made in the Media Department of the AICC. Mr Mukul Wasnik is presently holding dual charge of Congress Spokesman and AICC General Secretary.

Mr Rajeev Shukla, who was removed as Congress Spokesman during the reshuffle in the Media Department, may be accommodated in some post in the AICC.

Some vacancies in the CWC are also likely to be filled during this exercise, according to sources.
